I thought it would be great to run through the Scandi inspired nursery purchases that we have made in the last couple of weeks. You can read more about my Scandi nursery inspiration in this post. Things are slowly coming together as this picture on my Instagram feed shows.
Right, enough of the chat, here are the purchases that we have made in the last couple of weeks.
Stripped Cotton Rug
I was beginning to get a bit worried that our nursery would be a bit too grey! I thought we needed a splash of colour added. As the nursery is to be gender neutral, I thought this fantastic rug from Kids Concept was brilliant.
I ended up making the purchase from Nordic House, who have some lovely Scandi inspired pieces. Now that the rug is in place, I feel like it really brings the nursery together nicely.
I mentioned in my nursery inspiration post about how much I was in love with these Natural Belly Seagrass baskets from Olli Ella. They are handmade and free trade and I felt they would look lovely in the nursery. Well I couldn’t resist 🙊 and purchased one directly from Olli Ella. I haven’t decided what will be stored in the basket but I think you will agree it looks great in the nursery.
I have been itching to purchase a wooden baby gym for agesssss. I have been obsessively pinning anything wooden baby gym related! Call me old fashioned but there is something about wooden toys that I love. It just looks, to me, so chic and beautiful.
The one thing that has put me off getting a wooden baby gym is the price. They aren’t cheap and, putting my boring sensible hat on, I was reluctant to pay top dollar from what really is a couple of bits of wood. However, when I saw that Swedish children’s toy and interior company, Kids Concept, were selling a cheaper wooden baby gym I couldn’t resist trying to find somewhere in the UK to buy it from. Enter our friends from Scandibørn.
I literally squealed for joy when I saw the gym being sold by Scandiborn. I have even managed to source some great toys for the gym as well…
Baby Gym Toys
I have had to put my sensible boring hat on in relation to the baby gym toys. We really wanted to go all OTT and purchase a set of three wooden toys but we quickly realised that at around £50 it was a little too expensive! I mean these Scandi style toys from Liewood are to die for.
As luck would have it, I was at The White Company store in the Swindon Outlet Mall and they had the perfect toys! I have done a little bit of DIY (basically adding some ribbon to the elephants heads) and hey presto this is the end product…
If I do say so myself, these aren’t bad and they only cost me £8 in total.
I had originally planned that I might get an elephants head for the wall but decided that a picture would be better. My usual go to place for posters or pictures is Desenio, I love their stuff, they have some great posters and my wishlist on their website is long.
I couldn’t, however, find anything I liked on Desenio. All the prints were not gender neutral and I really want to finish the nursery before Bump arrives.
After endless hours of Instagram hunting on my journey home from work, I finally found Sian Jordan’s wonderful website. Sian creates some lovely watercolour prints and she even offers a free print with every purchase! When I saw her flying elephant print I was sold, I hope you agree that it is adorable.
A little impulse buy is the wooden red bus from Orange Tree Toys in the main image on today’s post. I picked this up on Sunday in the John Lewis clearance for £2.00. I thought it was so cute and just simply couldn’t resist.
A full nursery tour (and video! eek) will be coming very soon. Do keep checking back for the tour and don’t forget to follow our Instagram and Facebook pages for more Scandi nursery inspo and further quick updates.
In the meantime, do let me know what you think of my latest purchases. Is there anything else that you would recommend I purchase for the nursery?
